Jahra Nature Reserve
A reserve that has been in existence since 1987, under the supervision of the Environment Public Authority, with an area of 18 km2, it was declared in accordance with Supreme Council for the Environment Resolution No. 7/2016. The purpose of its establishment is to provide a haven for endemic and migratory birds. Protecting the environment and its biodiversity. The reserve consists of a network of ponds formed by water flowing from the city of Jahra through the sand marshes in the far west of Kuwait Bay, surrounded by reed flats. The ponds are permanent and their size varies depending on seasonal fluctuations. Water is supplied to the main pond using triple-treated water through a dedicated network to supply the pond in a more sustainable and effective manner. Other ponds connected to it have been expanded and organized, and the main roads in the reserve have been paved in coordination with the Kuwait Oil Company.
